Thursday, June 22, 2023 

 

8:30AM-11AM – Jimmy Lewis Off-road Training: Balance & Traction (must be pre-registered for this class)

Noon: Gates Open and the 2023 Touratech Rally kicks off!

KTM, Triumph, Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Ducati and BMW Motorcycles of Seattle & SoSo Cycles will be providing demo rides between the times noon to 5pm Thursday.  Be sure to check with each Manufacturer for their specific ride time.

 

12:00-5PM – SheADV Level 1 Training (Part One)

12:30-3PM – Jimmy Lewis Off-Road Training: Proper Braking (must be pre-registered for this class)

3:30PM-4:30PM (Rally Tent) - Tips for the Trans-America Trail – Novice ADV rider and author James S. Peet rode the Trans-America Trail in 2022.  He learned a lot before riding, and even more while riding.  He’ll be passing on his knowledge, advice, and tips for the TAT.

4:45-5PM (Mainstage) – Weekend Preview: An overview of the weekend’s activities from Touratech-USA CEO, Paul Guillien. 

5-5:30PM (Mainstage & Rally Tent)- Rider Meeting – Learn about the event routes from new rider coordinator Wiel Penders and our new navigation partners REVER.

5:45PM (Mainstage) – 2023 Rally Orientation – First time at the Touratech Rally or just want to learn some tips and tricks about how to get the most out of the weekend?  Bring your questions and learn everything you need to know about being part of the 2023 Touratech Rally.  Hosted by Jocelin Snow.

6-8PM (REVER Tent) – GPS Uploading: Have 2023 Rally Ride Tracks loaded into your GPS unit or download the REVER Rally Challenge routes onto your phone.  

7PM (REV'IT Booth) – REV'IT! Rendezvous Social Mixer – Whether you're a novice seeking guidance or a veteran ready to share your wisdom, this gathering provides the perfect platform to connect with other local riders and form new lifelong friendships. Presented by #revitriders and ADV community leaders, this social mixer will inspire comradery with fun icebreakers while attendees are invited to indulge in delicious s'mores and refreshing drinks. Join us for an evening of friendship, laughter, games, and prizes as we unite the riding community.”

8PM (Video Tent) – SheADV Ladies Meet n Greet – Connect with the ladies from SheADV and other riders of all skill levels.  A great time to swap stories, make plans and new friends. 

10PM Quiet Time:  Get some sleep so you’re read to Rally!!

7AM – (Mainstage) Moto Movement & Mindfulness – Get your body and mind in gear for a fantastic day on the trail!  Join Christine Kathryn of SheADV for a guided stretch, movement, and breath work session.  Some may call it yoga, but don’t let that scare you away.  This class is accessible to all shapes and sizes and you’ll learn techniques that will be a game changer for your riding.  Yoga mat is optional.

10-4PM – BLACK FOREST FUNDURO TRACK OPEN

10-11AM – (Rally Tent) Trail First-Aid Basics with ADV Medics - Lear to be prepared to handle basic medical situations when your far from help from the pros.

11AM – (Video Tent) Adventure Etiquette – Have more FUN on every adventure by knowing the strategies to be safe and responsible on every ride.  This presentation will cover trail rules and what they mean.  How to organize your group adventure rides to make sure a group of any size has more FUN and stays safe.  Learn how to Tread Lightly to preserve access to our adventure routes.  With motorcycle educator, Jesse Murphy.

11:30AM-12:30PM (Rally Tent) – I’m Sick of Jerky and Cliff Bars – Join incredible rider and BMW brand expert, Louise Powers as she demonstrates how to pack, prepare, and cook epic trailside meals.  A great way to get some pro-tips before the Iron Chef Competition on Saturday night.

12:45-1:45PM (Rally Tent) – Advanced Motorcycle Vision Clinic - Join Jesse Murphy of Cascade Motorcycle Safety, your eyes are amazingly capable and the most helpful tool in making your ride more FUN.  Come learn about the details of how your eyes work, practice drills to make your eyes more effective, and learn strategies to use your eyes to make every adventure better. 

 

1:45-2:45PM (Video Tent) – GPS Units are the Devil – Join BMW Brand Ambassador Shawn Thomas as he delves into the GPS vs cell phone debate and discusses how to use each for navigation.  

2-3PM (Rally Tent) – Motorcycle Brake System Workshop – With Jesse Murphy of Cascade Motorcycle Safety – A perennial favorite.  Learn about how to care for and maintain one of the most important systems on your motorcycle, the brakes!  In this hands-on workshop you will learn ow to service brake systems on our Brake System Simulator.  Knowing how to care for your brake system can be a ride saver on your next adventure. 

2:30-3:30PM (Video Tent) - Moto Camping:  Prepared or Over-Prepared? - Misty Pine will share the contents of her moto camp kit and lead an interactive discussion on how to decide what to take and what to leave at home.  Did you completely over-pack for the rally?  This is confession time!  Feel free to bring something from your bags for show-and-tell! 

3:45-4:45PM (Video Tent) Can I Wear Jeans or Flip Flops?-  Join Shawn Thomas, BMW Brand Ambassador & Louise Powers, BMW Brand Expert as they discuss understanding the importance and strategies of choosing proper Riding Gear. Don’t miss this one!

5:30-7PM (Black Forest Trail) – Touratech Rider Challenge – This event is open to all riders.  Bring your bike and compete against other riders to finish the challenge course.  This a fun event, not a speed event so don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. You could win a trophy! Hosted by the designer of the Touratech challenge course, rally partner and Dirt Bike Safety Training owner, Jason Sherman.

8PM (Rally Tent) – Hangout with the Dork in the Road – A semi-informal collaborative conversation about all things ADV, dual sport, and motorcycle camping, lightly moderated by Ben Sell (aka Dork in the Road).  Bring your questions, experience, and thirst for knowledge (and beer) and let's hang out and learn from each other!  Liquid refreshment generously provided by the BDR. 

 

8PM (Video Tent) – Riding Solo with Sterling Noren – Sterling Noren is the man behind the camera of Backcountry Discovery Routes and in 2021 he released his first Riding Solo series on YouTube.  It quickly became a sensation in the ADV community.  In 2023 Riding Solo AZ-BC was released, follow Sterling as he rides and films his trip, alone over 8000 miles.  His is a great story and you’ll want to hear it.

11AM-12:30 (Rally Tent) – Real World 1st Aid and Survival Skills for Adventure Riders – Easy to apply 1st aid and survival skills from retired paramedic Bob Hamilton and retired USAFSERE (survival school instructor Vince Gregory.  Knowledge you want before you go.

12:45-1:45PM (Rally Tent) – Field Hygiene – Keeping you and your gear clean in the field – Novice ADV rider, world-traveler, author, and inventor of the Simple Shower, James S. Peet has some excellent advice for keeping things clean on the trail.  Learn where and how to pee and poop off the trail, how to keep gear clean so when you pull into that small town, you’re not barred from entering the restaurant, and other basic hygiene. 

1-2PM (Video Tent) – The Topography of Fear – Join rider and author Matthew Sturtevant as he shares his motorcycle adventure book, eight years in the making about not only navigation 6000 miles across America on dirt roads, but also navigating a divorce, career changes, addiction, and mental health issues.  This story has numerous cringe-worthy moments from traversing high mountain passes to crawling in claustrophobic caves to meet fear head-on.  Don’t miss his story!

2-3PM (Rally Tent) – Motorcycle Camping Basics with Amanda Zito – Starting from the ground up basics of motorcycle camping.  We’ll cover; best practices for loading luggage on your motorcycle, the core essentials you need to go camping, and the ten essentials you need for a successful trip into the wilderness. 

2:15-3:15PM (Video Tent) – Riding Your Own Ride… (PlanBe Adventures) – The Round-the-World rider, the daily motorcycle blogger, and the YouTube influencer has become a pretty crowded space.  But the truth is, none of us has to be all that – we just have to ride our won ride, whatever that is.  Join our rally MC, David Bailey and come be inspired as we talk about ow to “Be Awake. Be Aware. Be Alive” – because everybody needs a Plan BE!

3:30-4:30PM (Video Tent) – Sneak Peek at Upcoming BDR Routes – Join BDR Executive Director Inna  Thorn and the BDR Team, as they preview the new BDR routes rolling out this year, plus get exclusive insight as they disclose plans for future routes on deck for the coming years.  They will also share some of the behind-the-scenes workings of the organization and what it takes to create and manage over 13,000 miles of adventure and dual-sport tracks.  

3:30-4:30PM (Rally Tent) – Learn the “V” Traction Method with Dirt First Washington – Maximize your confidence, while staying in control.  Cut down on fatigue while your muscle memory is developing for second nature control.  

5:15PM (Mainstage) – SheADV Iron Chef Competition – Ditch your helmet and grab your chef’s hat… the SheADV Iron Chef Competition is coming in hot!  Ready to rock your campsite cooking skills?  Got what it takes to outdo your riding buddies at dinnertime?  Fire up your camp stove and get ready for the return of the SheADV Iron Chef Competition!  This year at the Touratech Rally, the 3rd SheADV Iron Chef Competition is heating up once again and will be giver and tastier than ever before.  During this epic culinary battle, competitors will try to impress our panel of moto-celebrity judges and win some great prizes.  Don’t miss this event Hosted by Eva Rupert. 

6:45-7:30PM (Vendor Row) – Touratech Slow Race – Slow down and keep that foot off the ground.  All skill levels are welcome!

7:30-8PM (Mainstage) – Touratech Rally Raffle – If you dropped your raffle tickets at one of the awesome vendor booths, be in front of the stage and see if you are the lucky winner of a raffle item.

8PM (Mainstage) Live Music with popular local singer/songwriter, Chris Ward

8PM (Video Tent) – The Dakar Adventure – Been There Done That – Last year at the Rally, Paul Neff was here and preparing to rave the world-famous Dakar Rally.  He was fundraising and sharing his preparation journey.  In January 2023, he made it to the Dakar and participated in the Race.  It didn’t go quit as planned.  This is his story!
